January Playlist

Friday January 21, 2005 - Permanent link to this post -

I've taken to making an 80 minute playlist every month, mainly for my own listening pleasure, but I also quite like to distribute it to my brother and a few friends who I think might appreciate it (tsk!).

This, the January Edition, is a mix of old and new stuff. Some from iTMS and some from my own CD collection. I try not to duplicate artists on the same playlist, however Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook pop up twice each in this one. I've decided, that whilst I won't besharing the music itself with the world at web, it would be quite nice to share the track listing. So here it is:

  1. Joy Division - Love will tear us apart
  2. The Chemical Brothers - Galvanize
  3. Bloc Party - Little Thoughts
  4. Primal Scream - (I'm gonna) Cry myself blind
  5. Audio Bullys - We don't care
  6. Beta Band - Dr Baker
  7. Blur - For tomorrow
  8. The Church - Under the Milkyway
  9. David Arnold feat. Aimee Mann - Nobody does it better
  10. Keane - This is the last time
  11. Doves - Pounding
  12. Dubstar - Not so manic now
  13. Embrace - Looking as you are
  14. Monaco - What do you whabt from me
  15. Fatboy Slim - What a wonderful night
  16. Gene - Speak to me someone
  17. Duke Pearson - Ground Hog
  18. The Subways - At 1am
  19. Kings of Leon - Four kicks
  20. Jay-Z - Encore
  21. New Order - Blue Monday (Original UK Release)

What’s Galvanize like? Been holding off buying it, just not too sure about the Chemicals anymore…

It’s pretty good. I know what you mean about the Chems. Since about ‘97 it’s seemed like they were just going through the motions.

Galvanize is good. Better than most things they’ve done recently (Star Guitar – anyone?).

This is why I like iTMS. Just being able to get the one song that you want without having to shell out for the whole album is great. And if I’ve chosen wisely, I can go get the album later.
