Resolutions '05
Friday December 31, 2004 - Permanent link to this post -
It's time to set some goals for the next twelve months, as is traditional at this time of year. So here they are, in no particular order of importance.
Family
Be the BEST dad in the world. Come April, I'll have a little ballerina/footballer knocking about the place. My resolution this year and every year henceforth is to be the GREATEST dad.
Friends
I realise this may become difficult once the wee'un's here, but I really want to keep up to seeing my friends. When I wrote something similar last year, I had Ruth & Rob in mind. We haven't had them over to see us for over a year now. We do see them every now and again but it's usually in a different context. Anyway. That should change this year.
Speaking of recently engaged couples; Simon and Lucy got engaged on Christmas Eve. Sorry for not posting the announcement earlier but I thought I'd give them time to tell everybody over Christmas before making the news available to the world at web.
So many of my friends are becoming more difficult to keep in touch with. Hardo, Les and Clive have all left the company (or will have in the next few days) and there could be more on their way. I need to use email more.
Oh, and I need to visit JC in Manchester.
Work and Web
Don't know what to say about my work-resolutions for 2005. I should really improve my position in some way or another. I still have a lot more to learn for my own skillset, but as far as what I do at work goes, I'm on top of my game.
I want to learn Javascript (more than the little bit of
I also really want to learn PHP. This is for my own good as we'd never get to use PHP at work. Everything's Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server based so it's ASP all the way. PHP would be really useful for outside of work.
Health & Fitness
Like last year, I want to lose a stone before Center Parcs (end of January). I want to try and keep it off this time. I'm actually back to the weight I was this time last year and I don't like it. I'll be riding the bike a lot more. Going back to the Friends thing, Les Ellery should be coming back North for a ride out at some point in the New year.
Hopefully there'll be a load of football on this year too.
General
I think I'll go for a new look. I've already started getting things in the sales. It's a more mature look. Smarter, but still very casual. Casual stripy or patterned shirts under a nice thin wool jumper. Perhaps a scarf hap-hazzardly thrown around my neck and maybe a hat. I've never been able to pull the hat look off, but maybe this year I'll put in extra effort.

take it from me…forget the hat – we are not capable of carrying that one off…it’s JC’s manor..!
Is it only people of a “slighter” build that can get away with it?
