Five minute redesign

Sunday July 24, 2005 - Permanent link to this post -

I had a few drinks and decided to change things up around here a bit. We've gone dark.

I haven't changed the layout at all. That was working for me. I just re-coloured a few things to reflect my current tastes. It may well change back over the next week. It might not. It might evolve. I have plants to implement some nice DOM Scripts here and there and maybe to plug a bit of AJAX into the navigation and possibly the commenting, but that's not likely to happen in the very near future.

Anyway. This is a sort of a live-redesign (sooo last year, I know) so bear with it. It's not going to blow you away or anything. It will grow and get tastier over time, like watercress or something.

Thanks for being here.

Update: It looks like this design will be evolving as I accidentally overwrote the previous stylesheet. We now have Livesearch, which is nice, but some people have reported that the gradient in the page header is blocky. That's what happens when you design whilst half-cut. I've tested it on a few machines and it seems to be a problem with certain resolutions/colour depths or something. I'll be looking into getting it smooth for you all. Also, I've been adding in some enhancements for modern browsers, such as the little External Link and Mail Link icons. (Don't see any icons? Get a better browser.) I may implement these enhancements in IE with some Javascript, but for now they're CSS only and will work in modern, standards compliant browsers.

As far as I’m concerned, if you can get hold of the stuff, use it. I’m not going to stop you. Just try not to use it around kids or police men.

Fergus. I was going to get you to do an observation for me but I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to afford you and that you’d be too busy to help out. I know you get very busy.

Apart from the pink thing, are there any other observations you could throw in for free?

It is only because you are a british like me that i do this for you normally i would charge a lot of money for it.

You get them at the same place you get your wine. They’re just next to the Chardonnay.

    Jon, you can’t!
